The barn was located within a farm complex that centres around the listed farmhouse and is one of three barns on this site. The house is included within the Statutory List of Buildings of Special Architectural and Historical Interest and is Grade II Listed. The barn had previously been used as a store and since it is located within the curtilage of a listed building, it also has listed status.
Our brief was to convert the barn to provide ancillary space to be used as a music and games room including a projector and cinema screen. The barn was renovated to retain the open full height living space which allowed the original timber structure and character of the barn to be retained. Two new mezzanine levels were constructed one at each end of the barn with a single central staircase which divides into two staircases from a landing.
