Vanhurst
Project type
Extension and Refurbishment of a Grade II listed house
Location
Bramley, Surrey, UK
Vanhurst is a Grade II listed building comprising several buildings which were joined during the 18th century to form one house and were then extended several times. The oldest part is a medieval house, circa 1400, which was extended in the 16th century. A two-storey 17th century house lies to the East and was joined to the older house, by means of a middle range, in the 18th century. The house was extended further during the 19th and 20th centuries. Our proposals included the removal of an existing conservatory which was replaced with a single-storey oak framed extension with a clay tiled roof. The existing kitchen was also extended by continuing the existing roofline to provide a new hallway and porch. A new staircase was constructed from the first floor to the attic which also converted to provide additional accommodation.
